I was prescribed pic related. It's a drug that inhibits the absorption of fats. Common side effects include shitting yourself. So it's recommended you don't eat much fat while on it.
Two Questions regarding this drug.
1. Is it instant-acting? Can I take it on some days I am eating a lot, and not others when I am fasting? or do I need to be on it consistently every day for it to have any effect on digesting any given meal?
2. If you're not eating much fat (for reason above), are you not really benefiting from drug? It sounds like a scam. I was prescribed orlistat, but I'm considering not buying the medication (it's like $100 for a month supply). But I am tempted to try it out but ignore the fat intake advice - I am tempted to take orlistat but solely eat fatty foods like cheese but at a big caloric deficit.
