OK, here is my conclusion.
The paint makes it look like the objects depicted in the illustrations are everyday objects, like eukaryotic plants and homo sapiens and household items. But it may be not what was depicted or implied by original unpainted illustrations. We need the original illustrations without paint. It may be prokaryotic machinery or some other weird stuff. The text is unfortunately not understood. But it is way too long to be an elaborate ruse or joke, imo. Hopefully somebody will decipher it someday.
