I don't know enough about E&M to say if they'll be able to generate these waves or if the waves actually behave like the company claims they do. However, one thing is abundantly clear: you will not be able to get efficient power transfer from this. Especially because it is unlikely the waves can be collimated and focused on a receiver tower that will convert the wave energy back into current. I am highly doubtful that a power transfer technology based on wave propagation will ever beat out the technology based on current, in either the category of energy efficiency or cost efficiency.

What happened is you made a huge electric potential between the air and the ground and threw the wave through the air, it continues to travel through the air and tries to bounce off the ground. With each bounce it loses energy causing a limited range and for the signal to drop faster than a simple square of the distance.

or think about a really long rope (not tied at the far end) you whip the rope up and down and as you get further away the amplitude decreases until the rope doesn't move at all.
