What causes the psychopathology that makes people deny the likelihood of clearly roadmapped future technology? Why do many boomers deny the inevitability of technologies with no "missing links" needed, like brain/gene mapping or self-driving cars? Is it a cynical aesthetic that they enjoy, a fear of a problem they have overcome being made redundant, or a total arbitrary incredulity that things might change?
