Yep. This is because the Universe is infinitely deep. The energymatter does not just "appear" its bubbling up from smaller depths, forever.

We unified physics, and now the only remaining question is, what dictates the distribution of this energy matter? Seriously. If we can answer that then we can finally create the true reality simulator.

The coolest part comes when they start talking about the potential to "escape" the universe. I don't know why, but this very idea somehow give a little bit of meaning where everything seems meaningless otherwise. If it's all for naught and there is no way around it, how could our efforts in the present and near future "mean" anything? The short answer is that they can't and don't. If there is even a sliver of hope that after all that life might not be wiped from this world without a trace, that somehow gives some kind of meaning to all the work we've done, are doing, and will continue to do.

There is no outside. But not for the reason you think. It is not because existence is "finite yet unbounded". It is because there is an outside. Unified. As in equation of everything. Big bang was just local expansion. Universe is infinite in time and space. There will be no heat death or big crunch, and we are very likely already past the great filter. Lack of advanced alien life is because of infinite scales, no reason for conflict, any sufficiently advanced lifeform would know that. This galaxy could very well be ours for the taking, forever. And once uploading is possible within the next few decades (barring a new dark ages which is possible) then that forever will very much be literal. Eternal life. The rapture. Like Paul said, we will make our bodies into eternal bodies.
