I'm not sure if this is the right board but here I go

Last semester my thumb got an ugly infection (pic related). I did not care much about it and it gradually exploded by itself. My thumb now looks like an average thumb.

Yesterday I was remembering this and now that I look back it was very fucked up, like I have never seen something like that before not even in the depths of Google and Youtube.

>How did It get so ugly?
>Is there a scientific name for that?
>Is this normal for an untreated infection?
>Potential risks if it never exploded?
