If you were in a space ship traveling to another galaxy, the faster you go the less distance there is between you an your destination, as you reach c, relative to where you started, meaning you see earth moving away from you at c, there will be 0 distance between you and your destination and you will instantly arrive there, due to length contraction. However, only things without mass can move at c, so somehow the property of mass is responsible for this effect.
It may be the case that our universe is composed of overlapping spaces, spacetime, the electromagnetic field, etc. And the rules you play by depend on if you have properties like mass, charge, etc. EM waves can travel at c, and in fact always travel at c, because they exist in a different space with different rules, perhaps there is no time in that space and everything is instant. Things with mass must obey the laws of spacetime, where there is time and we get these effects because of it.
