I heard that fighter jet pilots tend to have more daughters than sons, is this true? If so, what is believed to be the cause?

Alcoholism causes damage to the male producing sperm apparently.
If you notice those hectic alcoholics that have like 5 daughters, it's anectodal but I have seen it.
Maybe they just get hammered drunk when off duty. It's not like they are flying jets all the time.

Too much exposure to higher then 'normal' radiation has it toll.
It's a well know issue among navy personnel. But just like a lot of other things, they don't tell you that before you sign.

Fighter pilots do not see their wives every day. So they do not make sex at the exact time of ovulation. Simply because they are at the barracks, not at home. And when you have sex a day earlier before ovulation, than slower sperms can reach more often the egg cell. Because the sperms have to survive for a day or even two before fertilization. And the faster sperm are usually the male sperm because they are lighter than female sperm. The x chromosome is heavier than the y chromosome, slowing the female sperm down. This is why female sperm have a slightly higher chance to fertilize an egg cell when the sex is not at the same time as ovulation-
