I often hear people say shit like "to function well (in society), you need to learn how to get along with average people", but in my experience it's the other way around: if you function well, if you're healthy and happy, then interactions with most people will go fine.
so, yes, go to university and meet your peers. the STEM fields have more intelligent people, but be careful because you'll have to put in a ton of boring and unrewarding work to get through something like physics, math, or chemistry. if you're not conscientious, this can do a number on you.
