>>11257228The point of arXiv is that everyone in the industry knows that peer-review is a pointless circle jerk, and by posting on arXiv you can speed up the dissemination of your research by a year or more. ArXiv allows people to quickly browse all the new papers published in a specific area of interest on a daily basis without having to go to the 40+ different journal sites where the papers end up, if they ever do ever end up somewhere besides arXiv, which many of them don't.
Also, arXiv has an unpublished set of censorship criteria so they can blacklist anyone they want for any reason. Then when people say, "Wow! If arXiv rejected your paper, you must be a real fucking asshole given the absolute dogshit-tier papers that they publish every day." (Indeed, absolute dogshit gets published on arXiv five days a week and this has been an unbroken streak going back man years!) Then between the well-known blacklisting among the journals, and then the lesser known blacklisting by arXiv which is thought to publish anything but absolutely does not, arXiv acts to retard the progress of science by conforming the political agenda of its censors' masters rather the alleged scientific agenda of Cornell University and the honest scientific agenda of the scientists who use their pre-print service.
