the biggest challenge to any speed that wouldn't take millions of years is energy. the amount of energy needed to accelerate only 1 kg of mass into only 1% of C in total vacuum (true vacuum doesn't exist) would take around 9^12j. if you still can't see the problem with this, the most energy dense feasible energy is uranium-235 which produces 8^13j per kg which is 305kg surplus per kg of uranium, add in the weight of the reactor, the ship, etc and i guess you can see what is the problem. that is a perfect scenario and in reality it's way worse than that.
other forms of energy? antimatter is impossible to contain, it's impossible to transform mass into energy, it's impossible to have 100% efficiency, there is no negative mass or energy meaning Alcubierre drive is impossible, uranium is limited and all of the new discoveries being made are proving that it's more difficult than we imagined.
