We get fucked over by some planet-destroying projectile that kills probably most of humanity (this is assuming we've already colonized other planets), then immediately proceed to put ALL of our resources into local solar system protection systems to detect and annihilate anything like that that even remotely comes within reach of our system again, before going on the offensive, and retaliating with our own planetary-destruction weaponry. Then maybe send out a signal somehow demanding peace or else (this is assuming they only sent out one said warhead). Maybe we could even get up close and personal with a massive invasion fleet (probably never ever happening but maybe if we were to somehow knock out their offensive capabilities before then), and invade THEM, if they don't invade us first.
>>11249067I assume at first, it'll be like the Thirteen Colonies vs. the British Empire, then eventually, we'll get along after they win their autonomy. Or we might win, then give them autonomy eventually anyway. Either way, there's no reason to remain hostile forever when it'd probably be mutually beneficial to cooperate to continue exploration and colonization out into space.
For one, it'll be easier to get objects out into space considering Mars' lower gravity, so we might start our own human empire out from there or something.
