redpill me on X17 /sci/. How do you have a particle that's electrically neutral, has no interaction with protons, yet is somehow able to decay into an electron and a positron?

Am I right i remembering that you need to be able to interact with particles to decay into them? If so, what sort of properties would let a particle interact with electrons and positrons but not protons?
