Ram pressure stripping:
Basically what happens if a galaxy collides with a dark matter/energy patch of space with equivalent or larger mass. All the gases start flying out and galaxy slowly decreases in a star formation which can cause it to die. Smarty egghead fags still cant fully explain this phenomenon but its basically how drop of dye acts when put into a liquid.
