So Elaine Morgan have this theory about humans evolving from an aquatic monkey stepping down from the trees into the marshy landscape of the drying Sahara.
She points to solid evolutionary traits as proof and it's intriguing to think about rewriting our evolutionary history!

A drastic change in the environment such as Sahara drying would force monkeys to find food in new terrain. The energy and nutrient denser fish in the mangrove marches of Sahara put selection pressure on water movement.
There are HUGE gaps in the evolution of monkey to man and this is just as plausible as any other theory. At least keep it in mind for when the next piece of evidence comes by.
