Defiance, divergent thought, and a lot of the hormone levels and brain centers we associate with crime or antisocial action were bred out of women to a degree, just like, to a degree, classical intelligence was bred out of races that were used as slaves for a significant number of generations. This isn't justifying racism or sexism, but it is a contributing factor to the disparity you've pointed out.
