>>11234567the bay beach or the ocean beach? if it was the bay beach, was it the ocean-facing side of the beach (i.e. was the ocean in the direction you were looking over the bay) or was it the land-facing side of the beach (i.e. is the continent/landmass in the direction you were looking)?
if the wind was in your face on the bay beach, and you felt no wind once you went inland, then you might have been feeling sea breezes that swept over whatever barrier peninsula/island/whatever on the bay shore, but were completely baffled where you were. sea breezes can sustain for a long time and it is common that once you go inland even a few hundred meters, the see breezes get baffled by dunes/trees/buildings/etc and they are imperceptible even a short walk inland. you may have experienced the same phenomenon even though you were on a bay since sea breezes can sort of "hop" over small peninsulas or barrier islands
