I would like to design an oceangoing, floating arcology consisting of five hexagonal "islands" (enormous buoyant platforms), each itself an arcology, arranged in a circular pattern to form & encompass a pentagonal harbor (which is connected to the outer ocean via five narrow channels radiating out from the corners of the pentagonal harbor between the common edges of the hexagonal "islands," which, themselves, are interconnected via bridges spanning these channels).
>*: everyone here is considered to be a "scientist" -- former or current -- due to the simple fact that everyone here almost certainly conducted "science" as part of at least one classroom assignment during "science" class during elementary school; "science" in these settings is not *science* but is technically correct enough to support my argument that everyone reading this thread is, at least, a very mildly-experienced "scientist" thanks to our "public education" system, which, again, is mostly just a propagandizing cattle-training machine designed to just feed fresh meat into the grinder of our "economy" (and this is coming from a practically purely libertarian capitalist, mind you)
Taking into account the curvature of the earth, how big must these regular hexagonal floating platforms be in order be arranged like five white panels on a soccer ball ("football" for you non-Americans) surrounding a black panel (the harbor)?
