Besides Dawkins (who still has for a long time not done any proper scientific work) non of them represent at any level modern academia. Go to any philosophy of QM talk in your uni, it will be packed.

Probably they mostly ignore, not "hate", philosophers, because philosophers make ill-informed derisive statement about sciences. Like if you would state to all your friends that your regular mechanic puts in all the rust seen at the bottom of your car, kind of thing.

Contemporary philosophy is mostly sociological in nature.
Physics has replaced philosophy on the study of nature.
Math has replaces philosophy on the study of ideas.
Still philosophy constitudes the basis of all thought and should be respected as discipline.
Philosophy majors are completely useless tho.

Sorry, my bad. I have a major in Physics, so even worse, I guess. But there are a number of Physicists from that school of thought, the "shut up and calculate" school. Feynman is the best example. I'm not saying they are worse physicists because of their attitude, but I still think they're short sighted.
