>>11230262In the "old" days, simply having the knowledge required to get online was a bit of a brainlet filter in and of itself, so there was a natural base level of intelligence on any board, anonymous or not. Nowadays, a literal 2 year old can get online and start communicating with the world. So looking at it from that perspective, it might make sense to erect a new barrier that replaces the old one that has eroded.
I'm not sure if I'm in favor of this, and any barrier you throw up will inevitably let in too many brainlets or impede too many legitimate scientists, or both.
