If multiverse theory turns out to be true, how feasible would it be to travel to another universe?
What kind of technology and breakthroughs would it require?

This could be through the manipulation of space and time to either break through to a clone, or find a new one somewhere in the unknown expanses of the upper boundaries of this universe. Both would require tremendous speed and power.

For humanity to witness such a thing it would take harvesting many stars and planets worth of energy and funneling that energy through a machine to either "break open a portal" or travel the distance to the end of our known universe.
A "Planet Eater" if you will.

This is omniverse theory. In this scenario, every possible defined universe, including simulated and non simulated ones are indistinguishable from the whole. As such, breaking, modifying, delaying, rewinding, editing and removing all universes proves is trivial in all regards, for one simple reason. It's all one.

Did the multiverse come out of scifi and thought experiments or did it arise as an explanation created by scientists to explain a certain real life phenomenon.

Everyone's grasp of science in this thread is pop-sci. So much to the point of being super annoying. How can anyone hope to have a constructive discussion here if most of you have no useful knowledge of any kind whatsoever and possesses an extremely fantastical and magical worldview?
The OP's question is ill posed. There is no 'multiverse theory' in the scientific community. There are several theories that make reference to a Multiverse or string landscape or a surrounding background on which our Universe is overlayed. They are all different and have different approaches. Which one are you referring to and by what metric will the accuracy of the answer be judged? How can you request a serious answer to a meme question?

In the actual scientific sense, there is no difference between Universe and Multiverse. The Multiverse is supposed to make us consider the idea that there are regions bound by logic and physics but that are causally disconnected from events in our Observable Universe. They could be spacetimes with different structures, properties and constants. Of course, if they are bound by logic, it means that they are still connected on some higher degree, as if having the same source. 'Universes in the Multiverse' are no different from defects in a crystalline lattice, as they are all just particular variations of some underlying global Nature with perfect symmetry. What constitutes a Universe is ill defined as it depends on what you're leaning on to even invoke the concept.
The idea of different universes comes from various equations (especially GR) that produce several different combinations of constants and structures that are mathematically valid but are different from ours.

Everything about alternate Universes, timelines, interdimensional travel (lolwat) are 100% sci fi and pop sci related.

One of the reasons Christianity did so well is that they funded a lot of scientific research that was considered pseudoscience but, did so based on faith and ended up being greatly rewarded with break throughs that allowed Europeans to project their faith around the world when traveling was ruthless and perilous. Christianity tamed the most powerful warriors in the world like Ghengis Khans horde stopping his invasions after seeing Europeans were living in a society he wanted to create and the Scandinavians who conquered more land then any other ethnic group of people Christians did not conquer nations with greater military through faith or by sword, but from sharing technological process that was considered heretical that came from their faith in the unknowing humbleness.

True intelligence is determined by open mindedness and knowing you don't really have it all figured as if we are in the future, rather then the present. We still are living in very archaic time after all where psychopaths and death cults like Judaism or Islam have access to humanity destroying weapons beyond nukes but bio weapons that can turn entire contients of people into fleshy mush.
