but the idea is contrary to the idea that all fields (all the four forces) must be quantized in order to obey quantum mechanics. the penrose idea seems to say that there is a special exception to quantum mechanics granted to gravity. that sounds strange.
in string theory the concepts of space and time emerge from the underlying quantum string theory and all forces follow the same rules. that seems a bit more logical
