This is not necessarily the case.
Conway's books on Complex Analysis are good.
And if you read the preface I think he states that available material was shit so he he came up with the book as a result of teaching a class on the subject.

you bet your ass that I have, it was multivariable calculus (in my native tongue). I fucking hate how the analysts in our department think of this stuff. the three main theorems of vector analysis (green, stokes and gauss-ostrogradsky) are presented merely as explicit formulas used to simplify computations. the differential operators are mentioned only as a remark in the lecture notes:

I've typed up some of my lecture notes, I find it helpful in organizing the material and as a study tool. But that's pretty far from writing an actual textbook.

I feel like that's how any textbook gets written. Some expert is either unsatisfied with available resources or too self-absorbed or autistic to deal with any other presentation of the material other than their own.

The majority of math textbooks are written in a Jewish fashion, I hate to say it so simply but anyone who has researched the history of mathematics, especially in Pre-WWII Europe knows about the European vs. Jewish war in mathematics.

The most stunning example I can think of is an argument between Jewish and German math professors. The Jewish professors argued that the sin function should be INTRODUCED as an infinite series with no mention to its relation with right triangles. The Jews believed that mathematics should be looked at through an algebraic lens, not a geometric lens.

The jews obviously won this argument because now most math texts present most theorems and information in non-intuitive geometric forms, never mentioning any goemetric realizations that are pertinent that might help make sense of the new topic.

It's like introducing the Klein 4 Group and never mentioning it is isomorphic to the symmetries of a rectangle.

So yeah. That's what has happened.

You understand clearly the way you understand clearly. Obviously there are some "better" ways of looking at things, but whenever you thought "that's a roundabout way to explain that" or "that's unnecessarily obtuse" someone else thought "finally, someone with a clear explanation".

That's not always the case.
Some books marketed as introductory fail to provide the tools to solve the exercises.
This means that the author is not doing a good job.

I'm convinced that I would do a great job at explaining tensors to undergraduates, but I would do a total shit job at explaining how to multiply polynomials to a failing high schooler. that's probably how those extremely expert mathematicians feel.

Because they don't know what they are doing besides following rules.
It's the same in physics.
Only books you can actually understand anything are specifically addressed to mathematicians.
Griffiths himself said that most physicists have no idea how to figure out the Schrödinger, they are working bees.
Physicists in general just parrot what other people have said.
