have any fucking correlation to intelligence, when most of the words used in the test are pulled out of the "dictionary of words that no one ever fucking uses or even heard of". Humans have a limit on the amount of words that they can retain from a certain language. This is why dictionaries exist. They are there as a record of all different words in a specific language. The dictionary effectively allows a language to extend beyond the mind of the humans that speak it. This is why african languages are so primitive. Their vocabulary is limited to the ones they use. They never bothered to write down a list of all the words in their language, and as a result, it was never able to grow. Because if a language is only what is in the mind of its speakers, then most languages would be only 1000-2000 words like all the different african dialects with no concept of length, time, numbers and so on. No human can remember all the words in a dictionary, and just opening a dictionary and picking up random words and asking people to define them is the worst fucking way of measuring intelligence. It's the worst way to measure intelligence because your vocabulary set is not there with you when you're born, it's learned over the years by interacting with people. So even if you're a genius, the set of all the words you could possibly know will effectively be limited to the set that is the union of all the words that the people around you have used while interacting with you. The only exception to this is if you do a lot of reading. Now just because you don't read much, it does not mean you're low IQ. Another issue is for people who are not native speakers or speak multiple languages. Since there is a limited amount of words that one can hold onto, speaking multiple languages will "override" some of the uncommon ones.
