m a chemistry major who really likes chemistry and Hope to go to a better school than UTD for grad school
I was a disturbed individual in adolescence, which is why I had to settle for UTD. and some of it carried over into my first semester at UTD, which was in fall 2017. I finished fall 2017 with a 3.05, with 2 Cs and 1 B coming from gen eds like history.
That was such a disaster that I took spring 2018 off, and returned on fall 2018 with a new appreciation for school. My 2nd semester GPA was 3.7, bringing my cumulative up to 3.4.
My 3rd semester was even better. 4.0 semester GPA, bringing my cumulative up to 3.61.
Now I am about to finish my 4th semester, and at worst I might get 4 A's and 2 B+'s, which would make my semester GPA 3.755 and bring my cumulative up to only 3.65.
3.65 is not really a good GPA, that's the harsh truth. Theres lots of kids who make 4.0s out there. If I didnt mess up my gen Ed's like history in 1st semester, my current gpa would be something amazing like 3.8 now. I cant be confident about my GPA getting higher in the 2nd half of undergrad, since one of my professors for spring 2020 has a really bad RMP review and curves grades down.
Despite making straight As in my science classes (A+ in both organic chemistry I and II, A's in both general chemistry I and II, A+ in both physics mechanics and emag), and participating in research, this subpar GPA may prevent me from getting the chance to do the organic chemistry that I love. If it wasnt for 1st semester history, I would have a chance of going to Berkeley for grad school.
