ok so npds look at things in terms of identities. lets say u surf. so you view yourself as "a surfer". your identity is tied to some activity you participate in, or something youve purchased. you're a Starbucks person, or a local craft brew person, or a creative and not mathematics, person, you're just an ass guy no tits.
your ego and security are deeply tied to these identities, and when you encounter someone who you perceive as "better than" you in one of these areas you get. deeply insecure and rage.
it's also a perfect healthy phase to go thru in your middle/late teens to early twenties. most boomers got stuck there
