Is there a way to calculate the number of pieces a lego star wars set has based on the price?

After putting several dozen sets through graphing software I wrote the linear equation "y = 0.12x + 1.5", where y represents the price and x represents the total piece count of the set.

The equation works fairly well but I have come to ask for advice on how to improve this. Any feedback is welcome. Also this is not an assignment I just have autism.

Try getting more data and graph that shit. Most likely it's in fact somewhat linear

you could probably come up with a solid prediction for sets that don't use too many unique pieces, but the more one-off pieces a set needs, I bet the more expensive it will be.

for instance in that star wars set - all those customstar wars minifig heads and the tie fighter cockpit are probably more expensive to produce.

Try using minitab and one of those Lego set archive websites for piece counts/prices, use least squares regression and see if it is linear if not there are also exponential and Poisson distros you could try

If you don't find a linear correlation, then you should probably consider the idea of factoring in license value. Spergs will pay top dollar for Star wars sets because of the license, not necessarily because of the number of pieces in the set.

In fact, I'd wager that buying the same pieces individually and separately would cost less than buying the set itself. It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me if it didn't, but then again, I know jack shit about Lego and licenses.
