Mind you, I know my field fairly well and could probably regurgitate a sort of "lit review" from my own writings. But I put together these sources over years of actually doing research, back and forths with my advisor, fellow students, and going to conferences and talking to people constantly. I learned about all the major results in my field out of necessity, in order to actually be able to do my work. In other words, I have had a clear direction of where to look for new papers and ideas. And I only actually know what these papers are saying because I've had plenty of time to read, digest, and discuss them with others.
I can't imagine how someone could put together this shit if they haven't devoted at least a year actually working in the field.
