My guess is off the grid local who had severe wolfman syndrome people fleeing society settle in Nor cal rural. The USA especially Nor cal has huge amounts of untouched areas with very thick brush and Norcal has a lot of mountain men/ doomer hermits , with cults of all types as of recently large cartel operations growing coca and poppy. With a more liveable climate compared to other rural states. People from out of the area drive to dump bodies up there all the time. The mafia owns the excess meat companies in Norcal that are also rural.
I found plenty of suspicious items myself as kid hanging in those mountains used run around in camo with a bb gun, an hatchet things i found were a missing mans wallet with money in a old stove roaming the mountains at a old dump that was miles into the forest. A Buried pepper gun. A 100+ year old miner knife with some coins . A single shot sawn off shallowly buried on the property i lived on. A very agressive yogi cult tried to lure me in to their tent camp when one of them spotted me when i was following a bobcat. Methheads cooking that got busted weeks later. The only thing that haunted me was finding a midage females body in a meadow that looked only couple days old.
Anyway what im getting at is the whole place has got a hotspot of weird happenings and attracts weird to creepy people.
