This is how early computers were built, or prototypes of complex circuits are made. It’s called wire-wrapping. It is time consuming and expensive. Yes your mind is a virtual machine, and yes, virtual machines can be migrated across hardware platforms. But the problem is that your entire brain of 150 trillion connections, is wire wrapped.
Why does your mind think it is not part of your body? In a way it isn't. For one thing it is electrical, being based on electrons that are 1837 times lighter than protons, those 150 trillion synapses in your brain can process signals at 100 miles per hour each. That is an awesome computer, just awesome. There is no computer we can build that comes anywhere close.
But it is not even a computer, it is more, it is a controller. Not any kind of controller we can build (yet) either, because it is a self controller. It maintains a virtual image of its own operation which it actively refers to during its own operation, a field called reflexive computing, about which we know very little.
We know that reflexive computing solves the problem of motion, because plants don't have it. It begins by independent cells developing cooperative behaviour. Cooperation is the forgotten twin of competition, in the processes of evolution.
In order to move as one unit, a distributed controller is needed that is able to supervene on all the members. They must all support the master controller, they must all provide input, and they must all obey its directives. And yet not one of the member cells holds that role, they must jointly create this virtual entity that they allow themselves to be subjects of. A democracy that does not elect, but creates a virtual control space within itself.
You are that control space, now 150 trillion synapses all firing at once, in parallel. You think you are virtual, and you are right. You can move a virtual machine to other hardware, but your hardware is hard wired. And it is that wiring that makes you unique.
