Let's say I have a concept that offers insight into a scientific field, but have no connections. I want this idea to be tested and evaluated on its merit, but am paranoid about writing letters only to get ignored, then finding one day several months from now the idea in a headline with no mention of that poor naive soul who thought he could write a letter to a random scholar who would usher them into the limelight.

Ignore any delusion you might think I have at this point; if someone did have an idea they wanted to get through to acedemia from the outside (and it wasn't directly and irrefutably provable like a mathematical theorem or improved algorithm), how would they get exposure while ensuring the idea remained credited to them?
