No, it is one of the worst majors in respect to work prospects because 1. the high number of students that on average enroll in psychology is high and 2. because the number of jobs which require a psychology major without having some medical schooling is very limited.
Also I assume you're male and you're 28 years which means you're 8-9 years older than those who will probably start the major with you. What does this mean? Quite frankly, Modern psychology especially its academic department is known for being quite hostile to males. Many jobs that are open to psychology students are implicitedly female only or at least strongly prefer females over males. Considering your age, you will be between 32 and 34 when done with the major. At that point, you are for most employees already too old to work in starter positions.
