Why? It supports it. Gravity waves are produced by rapidly moving massive bodies distorting spacetime. Gravitational waves are literally periodically changing curvature in spacetime with an amplitude proportional to the source.

The photon is the quantized entity of the electromagnetic field.
The graviton is a hypothetical undiscovered particle that is somehow responsible for gravity and the theories featuring it are unrelated to Einstein's theories of spacetime that include gravitational waves that are ripples in spacetime caused by framedragging effects. GR and the SM don't mix.

Weekly reminder that mathematicians and physicists have no idea what gravity is and can only define it as "a force" represented by loosely cobbled together equations high on renormalization. When you ask what causes this force they start dumping billions of dollars into looking for magic particles that GIVE matter mass instead of trying to understand why what causes the "force" acting on matter. Absolutely DISGUSTING.

investing large amounts of money and prestige into this has attracted all of the worst sorts of people to the sciences causing stagnation and bad decision making.
peer review is now something that enforces the social order to assure people's valuable careers, academic peer review is used as a tool to censor unwelcome truths because nobody wants to admit to stealing billions of dollars or admit to wasting large amounts stupid and pointlessly.

I hate to say it, but those mystics at Square Enix were more than a little right when they portrayed the casting of the spell known in game as "Graviga" as a black void with curvature. Sometimes things really are as obvious as they first appear.
