I wake up in the morning filled with a love of life. My meals are good, those I love are close to me, and I fill my free time studying philosophy. When I pay for my food and belongings, I pay with a card to avoid the hassle of change. When I play games, I only make character-based decisions (rather than stat-influencing decisions). At no point during my day do I perform any equations, even when handling money; I have enough in the bank not to worry about it.
I can honestly say that since I finished my required statistics course in college I have not needed to use mathematics, personally, in any way, shape, or form. Hell, I have barely needed to do any addition or subtraction -- that is pretty much only when I handle cash, which is rare.
How does it feel knowing that you were lied to? The schools, your parents, your friends, everybody told you that you need math, that the topics covered in algebra (HAHAHA) would be important to you, that you needed to study hard in calculus in order to be successful. They lied to you. I am proof, and a more solid proof than you covered in your geometry class.
While the mathematicians who teach your classes engage in intellectual masturbation over imaginary objects, I help people. My career allows me to directly and personally improve the lives of more people than any mathematician. I do not have to wait decades for my "discoveries" to be put into a realistic application and I do not need numbers to engage in intellectual pursuits. I have been satisfied in every way possible -- sexually, materially, intellectually, existentially -- and none of it required even basic addition.
So why are you studying math?
