How does one go about finding an engineer that can put your design into CAD and simulate loads etc? Its just for one small project that can be done after hours. Obviously I will pay but those "service" companies want like 50% of your patent and shit. I just want to pay someone to put my design in cad. Where do you find capable ones that moonlight?

Realistically speaking, jobsites. Or call a union call, they got a list of members who are also PEs who can help you get real blueprints with their (required) signatures. This costs money, but you'll get results without having to pay someone full time.

I'm assuming this is for a renovation or house project, which is where PEs are required by law for things like retaining walls or structures over 30' in height.
