But from a further reference point where time has sufficiently expanded, b could be said to have taken place 2 seconds after a. So depending on your reference point in terms of time, the time between two events could be different.
I know there is a tendency to think of time as a derivative of entropy. But that's nonsense. time is an absolute. Spacetime is able to exist without matter and energy but matter and energy cannot exist without spacetime.
