Many of you probably know the Universe 25 experiment and how lab mice show very different (sexual) behaviour in case of overpopulation.

Some are very sexually aggressive, while others just lack any sex drive at all. All in all, behaviour goes all over the place and to cut it short, it becomes such a mess that the preservation of the "pack" or "civilization" can't be secured anymore and everyone dies.


So I was reading this paper on the average number of partners for homosexual men:

Turns out their average is like 4 or 5 times higher than for heterosexual men. And this sort of hypersexual behaviour felt kinda familiar. It reminded me of that subgroup of mice that started derivating from "normal" sexual behaviour in universe 25.

And so I thought, could it be that there is a connection between hypersexuality (as found within homosexuality) and overpopulation?

Do you think this may perhaps be a built in natural defense mechanism that thins out an overpopulated crowd in order to save a species?
