How this relates to this subject: science is complicated enough for the average person even when they can read properly, for someone who is 'reading impaired' because they weren't taught how properly, it would be *impossible* to understand. Now add to that the general movement to distrust science/scientists in general (thanks, Conservatives!) especially because of the climate change controversy and climate change denial, then add some whackjobs who make a false correlation between vaccinations and autism, and you get an *explosion* of conspiracy theories and paranoid false correlations from people who literally can't even understand the subject at all, they're just knee-jerking.
What I'd really need to know though is if there's a correlation between this 'whole language' method being taught and the same people being anti-vaxxers. Probably will never know though, but you can easily surmise that these people are *ignorant* for one reason or another.
