ITT: Comfiest /sci/ classes

I took a semester of Oceanography and it was pretty comfy. We only had to do four homework packets and the tests were nice and straight forward. You didn't have to think too hard, but it was really heavy on memorization.

Back when I was still only a partially educated student the university I was at had a requirement that each of the different department have a history class for their discipline. Most departments didn't want to devote large resources to their history classes so the buried the history classes in the 400 levels and gave them prerequisites. History of math, history of physics, history of astronomy, history of optics, history of computer science were all great classes and having them taught in an environment where somewhat mathematically rigorous approaches to the topic wasn't above the heads of the students added substantially to the amusement.

Dear god, who was teaching? My Oceanography class required us to calculate wave height and fetch, mapping ocean currents, calculate tides based on distance from the equator, memorize salinity and density tables, and explaining the relationship between food webs and ocean currents.

I had a great environmental biology class. Professor was old as dirt and knew every blade of grass in a hundred miles. Did a lot of work on tallgrass prairie reclamation.

We had to some calculations about volcano growth or something. Nothing absurdly difficult though. We looked at a lot of maps of deep ocean currents and analyzed charts of density gradients. The Professor had a doctorate in Geography so the first assignment was to label all the bodies of water, mountains, and deserts of the world. The class was considered part of the geology department, but since physical geography overlaps heavily with that the professor was qualified to teach it.

Probably lol. I took 3131 with suzuki this last semester, 3121 with Seong (dont like that guy either), system dynamics with Campbell (based), as well as IME 4000 whatever for economics as well as stress.

I took Oceanography at my CC back in 2008. Now I have a PhD in Biophysics. I honestly don't remember anything from the class except that I enjoyed it and spent all the labs at the waterfront and my Grandpa picked me up from a lab and he randomly knew the professor and they geeked out about the old cars they were driving.

entomology class - the study of honey bees. i took it because my genetics class was full, but it ended up being super nice. lecture was just us sitting around talking about how bees function in the natural world with tests that were only like 15 questions on bees. I remember one question on the final exam being "What do honey's bees make that is used in the food industry?" - great class
