Physical “””laws””” on the other hand, are quite literally just observed consistencies. Things we’ve observed that are apparently always true. They are DESCRIPTIVE, not PROSCRIPTIVE. I’d rather use a less misleading term like “observed consistency”, lest people make non sequitur conclusions from this unfortunate terminology like “Laws exist so there’s a lawgiver. God/simulation confirmed”. The problem is comparable to the very misleading use of the word “observation” to refer to interacting with a particle in quantum mechanics in respect to the double-slit experiment, which has confused countless individuals into thinking that the particles somehow know they’ve been seen.
