How can I descend this straw into the glass of water without moving it too much? I don't currently have any lab equipment with me :/

I can't do that. I need to close one end of the pipe before pushing it in the water, and then open that end, which releases the pressure.

the water level in the drinking straw oscillates if you do what i mentioned. I'm trying to find how the amplitude changes as you push the straw lower and lower.
