What are the physiological effects of holding in pee, poo, farts, diarrhea, barf, and so on? Can you die of holding in farts?

I was sitting in class just now and I got a diarrhea feeling but I held it in. I started feeling cold and sweating a lot. What is the physiological cause of that?
