>>11199551He means that the kind of economics that is actually 'real' is just boring behaviorist psychology shit, which makes you as hireable as people with psych degrees, aka not at all. Most economics isn't even that rigourous however, at most schools it ends up being closer in equivalency to a philosophy or poli-sci degree, and is just as useless. Like this poster says, and I will reiterate:
>>11197108Econometrics is not only a bad framework that doesn't work, but it will also imbue your mind with poor statistical practices, which are taught as proper through a ideological lens. Everyone I know who did statistics hates economists for this very reason, they do whatever poor statistical practices enable them to support their ideological frameworks, and they only get away with it because the departments and journals all tolerate this crap inside the bubble. Nobody outside pays any attention to them. Actual quant work and financial analysis is almost never touched by academic economists. That kind of work is done by Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial, Finance, and Data Science departments. I don't have anything to add that the other poster didn't already say, but I just want to reiterate, all of his points are absolutely correct.
