When you play a game with killing, it's not really about killing. You're not simulating the details of murder. You're not thinking about how this person is going to die, how their entire life is yours now, how you're going to make their family feel, etc. You're not simulating being an actual fucking psychopath.
Fapping to loli IS going into detail. The most popular content is about the breaking of innocence and perversion of purity. When you're playing a game like GTA very few people are fantasizing about running down a bunch of people on a sidewalk in real life. But pedos are fantasizing about doing what they're looking at in real life. Maybe not to a "real girl", but to the character in the story. They want that cute 2d child for themselves. Loli as presented in cartoons is all about moe, a blossoming of childlike innocence into adulthood. It is a temporary state. It is possible to be "in to" this as a story conceit with out sexualizing it.

Why do I like loli content? Probably because I am not a striver, and watching immature media about the potential of being young is poignant to me.

My partner DOES sexualize shota (in limited ways and as a tertiary kink) but is not a pedo. She has similar feelings to me as to what is appealing, but she has feelings of sexual shame from something that happened to her when she was young. She links the poignancy of childhood with sexual awakening.

People are better at understanding their own perversions and damage than you might think. Lots of people with potentially unhealthy ideas about sex know damn well not to go down real world avenues exploring them.
