Is IQ a meme? Seems like a number people throw around thinking the higher the number the better for some reason. Can we really measure the complexity of the brain with 1 number?

It's a coarse indicator for the ability to draw rational conclusions and thus a positive predictor of things like overall monetary live achievements.

A predictor isn't proof. Just because someone has sauce stain on their shirt, doesn't mean they are poor. But it's a light clue.

your intellect/iq is something that cannot be measured by a number people you interact with will still have a good approximation of how intelligent you are.

There’s some guy in Israel who gets perfect scores on iq tests by practicing for them. So it seems like it’s a meme if you think that it’s this perfect indicator of how much potential you have but it has some uses in predicting things.

makes no difference your IQ can only be measured accurately by taking the test the first time without prior knowledge. The human brain is a pattern finding machine so if you make someone practice IQ tests they will of course get a higher score but those subsequent tests tells us nothing about their IQ.

Anyone who believes that IQ tests accurately measure intellect is intellectually challenged.

IQ tests were created by a fucking retarded brainlet.

There are so many aspects of intelligence. Too many to be determined by a simple dumbed-down test that only measures basic math skills and problem solving.

You don’t get it. If you can inflate your score by practicing that means that by doing other things you can inflate it. Things like how much you read, how many math courses you’ve taken, just how analytically you think about day to day stuff thus likely has a similar effect. The fact that practicing increases your score does this.
