>>11193092I'm not really sure about why it fascinates me, I'm not looking necessarily for a stable job and I believe I'm autistic enough for the academia. Genetics, geriatrics, bioengineering and transhumanism all intrigue me, and I also like maths & cs so I wouldn't mind doing bioinformatics. Then again, sometimes biology is to be studied mnemonically (at least in hs), and that's not something I really like, thus I prefer chemistry in that sense. Speaking about genomics, I fear that it might be a degree a bit too specific, considering also there's only one undergraduate degree in my country (Italy) and that it started last year (thus making it impossible for me to see how the students fared after they graduated).
There's also biomedical engineering, but I fear that just like chemical engineering it's less biology-related than the name suggests. Also, people have told me that electronic engineers are almost always preferred to biomedical engineers, making it obvious in my eyes that it's a job that both requires very little biological knowledge and doesn't have many job prospects.
Going back to chemistry, I'm good at it but don't enjoy it enough to make a career out of it.
