I bet it was fun to be a scientist in the early ages of science, with lots of low-hanging fruits and high potential for eureka moments.
Nowadays every little idea that you may think its original and creative, you go to google scholar and find countless papers and books on it already.
If you try to pursue the research path anyway, your work will probably have low impact and will only get cited by undergrads that barely read it and are just trying to fill their introductions of their shitty irrelevant papers with references.
Being a researcher is a meme, you'll only do real useful work if you are in the top 0.1%
