We basically started with C++, got new complex assignments every week (that required you to do magic with what we were taught) and a ton of math on the side.
If you had fundamentals down before college you struggled (everything from loops up to Templates), if you had no fundamentals before joining you were pissing blood.
You would also run out of time constantly on assignments, let alone were you left with enough time to study the theory. It was insane and I'm glad I left after year one. One thing I realized is that I'm not that autist who has been programming since I was 10 years old and loves writing algorithms and doing multiple hours of thinking in that way.
I'm just gonna stick to web dev & design (good salary, easy stuff, can live like a king and be on front-end and back-end), while doing some algo trading in C++ as a hobby on the side for fun and other shit in python.
Anyone that has ever had to learn algorithms like Knutt-Morris-Prat and so on, which in theory isn't that hard concept and then had to implement it in C++ knows the fuckery associated with doing CS. Now multiply this fuckery by 10 times and insane deadlines with insane assignments and math and you get CS.
you are supposed to be processing abstract stuff all the time and memorizing it constantly/precisely and implementing it in the same swing without an error or you get 0 points on assignment. Almost nobody has that kind of memory and precision to keep the pace with studies, unless they did shit before college.
