If our two objects are a dry ball, and water, and we say the ball is dry before touching and the water is X before touching. After touching, the ball is wet, and water is Y. According to the 3 possible cases originally defined, for the ball to go from dry to wet after the touch requires X = wet and Y = wet.
Thus water is wet.
