What are the most effective ways of managing your time and disciplining yourself to acquire effective study habits?

For math and Science i just wrote down all the definitions on 1-3 A4 sized papers.

Then you can just prove and understand the theorems without having to memorize them.

Then i just practice.

For non-science subjects, it's literally just memorizing essay plans. Done.

If you are short on time just memorize everything by just repeating what you have to remember for hours by saying it over and over, if you can't prove a theorem then just memorize a sample one. You will forget it all after the exam but at least you will get good grades and a piece of paper at graduation and that's all that matters.

This is how i did it anyway and manged to get a first class degree even though i barely understand any of the content.

ive noticed that there is a limit to how long you can focus on complex subjects like math. i can only do it for 2 hours continuously and then need a break to rebuild my focus stamina.

It really depends on you and the subject. For very detailed biology texts I read through them 5x- the first time I highlight the main idea, second time key details in a different color, third time examples in a different color, fourth time though look for minute bullshit details that don't matter and highlight in a different color. Fifth time through I'm just reading, each read through gets progressively faster because you know the info. After i got good at this technique I could see the pages in my head when recalling info for exams. Or for memorizing life cycles I draw from memory, and if I can draw it 10x then i know I have it. Stupid Latin/Greek words I use flash cards. It depends on what works best for you and what you're studying. Also I never study for more than an hour without a ten minute break.

The best study method is the one that works for you, i highly recommend investing in a large dry erase board.

Truth is you either have it in you or you dont. Barely any of the really high achievers I know ever struggled with that question (how does one study or get motivated etc). If it seems alien to you to be able to spend an entire day doing research and filling papers while barely getting bored, then you dont have it in you.
I suggest adhd meds, and library or a computer lab if your college.is decent enough to have a relaxing comfortable place. Then, if you cant bring yourself to enjoy working while in a comfortable room and while doping yourself, ask yourself the following: "if I cant even do a piece of shit undergraduate work and enjoy it, why am I even considering furthering my studies if all evidence point to the fact I won't enjoy it and It's not for me?"

1) Forget discipline and conventional study techniques. Memorizing is useless.
2) Always start by reading and understanding the theory. Then put it into practice.
3) Always try to solve problems on your own. Do not look for the solution unless you miserably fail to figure it out.

i.e. It's all about learning to learn, not about memorizing exercise set X for exam Y. If you improve your learning, reasoning and problem-solving skills everything becomes easy as fuck.
